8 Specific Actions We can Take

I have been inspired by many wonderful blogs I read to consider how I would be supportive in the fight against oppression.

This morning as the light rains fall my mood is thoughtful and I was fortuitously pointed toward this blogging post by Cynthiaseyes.com.

Cynthia shares some ideas on how I can, we can take some specific actions.

I believe Racism, or oppression is not specific to one country or continent.  In my opinion it is a condition that exists worldwide.

As I write this I am reminded also of the oppression and domestic violence against women around the world. I think the spotlight needs to shine on that oppression also.

Three things in life are truly important:

  • the first is to be kind;
  • the second is to be kind;
  • the third is to be kind. – Henry James

I am grateful you took the time to visit Life and Random Thinking today.

    David – good post.
    Thanks for the reminder to be kind.
    Thank-you for reminding us about the tragedy of domestic violence.
    Statistics released by ‘Statistics Canada’ reveal that men are also victims of spousal abuse in numbers almost as high as women. This is another form of oppression that is virtually never reported in the media.
    May we all work to build a kinder world. 😊

      Dear Sally. I am surprised that the numbers for spousal abuse is so high for men. I imagine men are just as reticent as women about talking about their situation. I am fortunate that my family is filled with kind people and they inspire me every day. – David

    Having travelled, lived and worked in a foreign country, I can attest that racism exists in other countries. Did I experience racism to the same degree as it exists in some countries? No, of course not. However, I did experience treatment as a minority in a country where I was not fully competent in the language and customs, and regardless of that, my external appearance was also different than the Majority. I think that it is important that people travel outside their comfort zone and learn that racism exists. Will the world change overnight? No but we can hope that in small steps people will come to realize that we are all one human family.

      Well shared and connected to me especially because it included your own experience. I like that your comment was hopeful and pointed out change, like most difficult achievements, is achievable in small steps. The mountains can be conquered! Merci Beaucoup Greg.

      Kindness is such a simple concept, one of the first rules my Baba taught me was the Golden Rule – treat others as you would like to be treated. The basis of kindness I think. – David I appreciate you visiting and commenting.

  8. Kindness is what the world lacks these days. And that’s exactly what we need. I totally agree.
