Morning Ride

I lay in bed the other morning, my mind racing. It was drafting emails I would not sent, letters to the newspaper editor that I wanted to send but denied myself the satisfaction.

Out of absolute mind-numbing fear my buzzing thoughts would wake my slumbering bride, who would have throttled me in a nano-second and claimed she was only dreaming she was throttling me. I crept as silently as a ninja (in my mind) but realistically I was probably more like Godzilla on ice as I careened around the room in the dark dressing and thumping the floor. Fortunately neither my thumps or screams of pain ever wake my princess as her ears are attuned only to the sound of the coffee-maker beeping her serum is ready, then I jolt her electrodes and she arises to face the day.  [ the average morning approximately 🙂 ]

Anyway I snuck out in the dark, then snuck back in, it was cold, and like a wuss I needed some gloves. I soon headed out and it was roughly 5:30 on Saturday morning. Lovely watching the sun lighten and I rode to the other end of town by Okanagan lake.  I resisted the insane desire to have a quick plunge in the lake, and instead my thoughts turned to bagels, coffee and jam at home. So I sallied forth, this time with a tailwind and made better time.

Spring is around the corner, and optimism courses through our bloodstreams as we look ahead to the warm sand, and slipping into the lake to cool off in July.
