I don’t rant often but now the hockey season is over, I will voice my complaint about hockey.
It’s not the players salaries, it’s not the violence, it’s not the season which almost lasts until July. It’s the NHL coaches – I can see them, and so can everyone else because thanks to awesome high definition televisions, and great close up shots, I am subjected to every pouty mouthed comment they throw out on the ice.
Not only me, but 30 or 40 million other viewers get a live demonstration of the four word vocabulary of highly paid, and presumably knowledgeable sports leadership.
Every single game it seems the camera zooms in and everyone can read the coach’s lips – $%##$@ this, $#$@#& that, and over and over it goes. How impressive, how manly, what great leadership, what great coaching, what a fine example for fans, budding coaches, and youth about sportsmanship.
Is it any wonder that fans copy that behavior and swear at referee’s, and act that way? I think an adult coach over the age of 21 earning annual salary like they do with 6 zero’s should be able to construct a sentence without @#$@$#$ in it.
In case they can’t, it would be better if the broadcasters just stopped showing the benches, why should this childish and boorish example be broadcast? If tennis players acted like that, something would be said.
If you’re a fan, if you enjoy sports, what do you think? Do you just tolerate it or ?
I expect NHL coaches to drop the sloped forehead act, pick up their hairy knuckles off the ice and act like they deserve their salaries, and that Darwin’s theory applies behind the NHL benches also.
Just my opinion. I still like hockey, Keep it competitive, keep the action, but let’s have some coaches who act civilized, my apologies to the coaches who do have have style because they don’t all act juvenile.
Now I will just relax and enjoy Wimbledon, hockey is over!
